I don’t know about you, but there’s nothing worse than tight clothes after you’ve eating three rolls and five different pies. (Okay, maybe I’m exaggerating. Slightly.)
Thanksgiving is a wonderful time for family and friends, but I think figuring out what to wear can be trick. You want comfort, but you also want to look polished for all those family pictures!
My go to is a great sweater dress over top of thick leggings. No uncomfortable waistbands here! I also love the simplicity of a skirt and a over-sized sweater!
Now that our style is taken care of, time to think about our hostess gift! Someone once told me that whenever you are going to someone else’s home for dinner or a party, you should always be ringing the doorbell with your elbow. (Get it?)
Bonus Fact: Pineapple-themed items are a great hostess item. Why? Well, long ago, whenever sea captains returned home from long trading voyages, they would spear a pineapple outside their homes. This was an invitation to all his neighbors and friends to come over to hear his stories and enjoy a meal together.
I learned this during my visit to Charleston, and if you pay attention, you’ll start to see pineapples carved on house columns, over doors, on bedposts, and on signs. The spiky fruit is now considered a universal symbol of hospitality! Who knew?
