Preppy Staple: Quilted Jackets

20 Oct

When it comes to cultivating a classic, preppy style, I love a well-made quilted jacket.   Not only does it keep you warm, but it’s a timeless piece you can wear forever.

How to style it?  Well, I like to treat it as a suit jacket.  Create interesting layers underneath, and then wear it open for maximum impact.  (And when you’re cold, zip that bad boy up, but leave your bow tie showing!)

Or you can use my new favorite, the ugly sweater, that picks up on the colors in your jacket.

If you’re in the market for an affordable quilted jacket, there’s always Barbour and their amazing quality.  (Definitely an investment though!)  Also, their tumblr site is adorable!

Also love this olive green option!

Or you can find lower priced options that will let you try out the trend without too much monetary investment.

I love how this Tommy Hilfiger version is styled!

Tommy Hilfiger also has some other really cute, affordable options.  It’s downright adorable in this bright red.  This barn jacket in navy is cute too.

And even though this is a little girl’s version, I love how they styled it with the plaid skirt and knee socks!  I feel like I need to recreate that myself!

What are some of your favorite ways to style a quilted jacket?

I am still looking for a quilted jacket. I think a lightweight jacket is perfect for California “winter”
